Residential wildlife pond course in mid wales

Would you like to increase the wildlife in your back garden but don't know where to start? A wildlife pond is a great step, easier to build than a traditional fish pond and will create a habitat for a wide range of aquatic plants and animals. Our next Wildlife Pond weekend course is in the Autumn with Stephanie Coates from Brecnock Wildlife Trust. The weekend will cover siting of your pond, construction, planting and how to encourage the local wildlife to visit your pond. The course is all inclusive, including accommodation, food and tuition over the weekend.

Price of £215.00 is based on two people sharing a double/twin room. For a second person joining the weekend but not taking part in the pond course the price is £155.00. For single occupancy of a room the price is £275.00. Our B&B is located close to Hay-on-Wye which is famous as the "Book Town" so ideal for partners not taking part in the wildlife course but wanting a relaxed weekend away.

Typical weekend course

• Arrive Friday afternoon/evening and settle into your accommodation
• Introduction to the weekend before a three course dinner
• After breakfast on Saturday there will be a theory session with Stephanie on successful pond building to attract wildlife.
• After lunch a practical session of pond levelling, lining and planting.
• Three course dinner and relaxing on Saturday evening.
• After breakfast on Sunday, a visit to a local wildlife lake.
• Back to Westview for lunch and departure.
• The program may be varied to suit those attending and the weather.

The price for the course includes bed and breakfast, dinner on Friday and Saturday, lunch on Saturday and Sunday and all course material. Transport and wine/drinks are not included. Your will need to bring boots (either walking or wellingtons) and a waterproof coat; if you have any, binoculars would be useful on Sunday.
