Westview Guesthouse is in the village of Llowes with views of the Brecon Beacons and near Hay-on-Wye

When you stay with us at our bed and breakfast you become part of the village community of Llowes. Westview is located on the edge of the village and enjoys splendid views across the Wye Valley of the Brecon Beacons in all their glory. Positioned a few metres from the long distance Wye Valley Walk we are ideally located to explore the countryside around the village or to take a gentle riverside walk into Hay-on-Wye where you will find, as well as lots of books, unique shops, great cafe's and plenty of history. For 360° vistas the Begwns provides a superb place to take in the mountains and rolling countryside of our area.

Fron Wood and Garth Dingle are accessed from the village and crossed with several footpaths. The magical dingle is a forever changing natural wonder just minutes from your B&B at Westview Guesthouse. The Woodland Trust manage the woodland here along with Cilcenni Dingle which is a short walk away. Based as it is in rural area of Wales there is a rich history of farming and we are surrounded by working farm land both arable and livestock. On the south side of the Brecon Beacons are the South Wales Valleys with their rich industrial and mining heritage and the world heritage site of Blaenavon.

Hay-on-wye is a market town on the border of England and Wales. Renowned for it large number (30 at the last count) of second-hand book shops, catering for every category of books imaginable. Richard Booth is famed for starting up his book business in the town back in 1961. The rise of Hay as a book town, brought about the Hay Festival, which was founded by Norman Florence in 1988, using the proceeds of a poker game as funding. It takes place over 10 days encompassing the Whitsun Bank Holiday in May and June each year.

Looking for fresh air and wide open spaces. Look no further than this wonderful National Park with its remote wilderness and ancient woodlands, waterfalls and caves, mountains and uplands. Walk in the hills of the Brecon Beacons, including Pen-y-Fan, the highest point in southern Britain at 886m. The Brecon Beacons laid out before you from our bed and breakfast, whether on foot, bike or by car it is so close but easy to find solitude and your very own piece of Wales. Explore the landscape them return for hot bath or shower before enjoying the local ford and drink.

The market towns of Brecon and Builth Wells are short distance from us and provide a true feel of real working Wales. Both bustling and quite streets to explore with lots of history and active markets. The cathedral at Brecon is well worth visiting with a super cafe to take a break in. Hereford is a famous border city with Mappa Mundi and Cathedral blending with modern cafe culture in the traffic free centre and on the banks of the river Wye. Cardiff, the capital of modern Wales, provides glimpse at modern Wales and is home to the Welsh Assemble, Welsh National Opera and Millennium Stadium. You can then return to the tranquillity of our bed and breakfast.
